Tom Ashbourne SSC, SCA, OSA

Sculpture, unlike other art forms, has multiple sides, angles, views, and needs to work with light in many different ways. It’s a very sophisticated art form and artistic expression. I’ve been collecting and appreciating art for most of my life and these are some of the reasons why sculpture has become my favourite.

I naturally think in 3D, a gift that few people share. I can see things in the raw stone, and find the best way to bring them to life. I continually assess the sculpture as it evolves, working on each side with equal intensity. I want each side of the sculpture to draw people’s interest, over and over.

My sculptures are an expression of my life and artistic experiences, and are an extension of my knowledge about what transforms a sculpture into a successful artistic statement.

TOM ASHBOURNE’s multi-colored, museum-caliber sculptures masterfully synthesize a newly defined abstract sculptural lexicon with non-objective carved colour stone sculptures which unite a harmonious abstract combination to reveal the invisible within the visible, infused with harmony, balance and rhythm, manifesting color, volume, and shape.

About Karlo Estates

At Karlo, our mission is to provide the ultimate wine country experience. You can’t have that without outstanding wines. So, we work under the direction of star winemaker Derek Barnett to craft gold medal wines. So far in 2021, we have earned 23 gold medal scores for our wine. At the same time, we believe in sustainability. We produced the first certified vegan wine in the world, thus reducing our carbon impact. Proving that you can be respectful of the planet while producing spectacular wines, we were twice named on the “Top Ten Cutting Edge Wines of the World” list and on WineAlign’s “Best of the Best of Ontario” list. Most recently, Karlo Estates was honoured with VineRoute’s “Top 20 Wineries of Ontario” listing as well as named on their “Top Ten Wines of Ontario” list.
